FRINGE WORLD blends artist-registered shows with programmed events; Perth’s 2027 festival runs from 20 January to 14 February.
FRINGE WORLD 2027: dates, tickets and Perth venues
FRINGE WORLD returns to Perth, Western Australia, from 20 January to 14 February 2027. The 26-day summer festival spreads performances across theatres, bars, outdoor spaces and other venues. Its hybrid model combines open-access and part-programmed elements: artists from around the world and venues across greater Perth can register to participate. Comedy, cabaret, theatre, music, musicals, children’s shows and circus are among the formats listed by the festival’s official FAQ (opens in a new tab).
The images below are illustrative views of performance spaces. They are not photographs of confirmed 2027 shows or venues; check the live listings for each production’s actual location.
What is confirmed for 2027
The festival has published its dates and the first ticket milestones. As of 19 October 2026, Friends memberships and gift vouchers are scheduled to go on sale on 20 October. Friends tickets are due on 5 November, followed by public ticket sales and the full program on 9 November. The official dates-for-your-diary notice (opens in a new tab) is the best place to recheck the schedule: ticket times, availability and individual show details can change.
The full 2027 lineup is not yet available, so it is too early to name particular productions or promise that a specific venue will host a show. If you are travelling from outside Perth, decide first how many festival days you can attend and keep some flexibility until the program is released. Prices and age guidance should be checked against the listing for each show rather than assumed from previous seasons.
Where the festival happens
FRINGE WORLD takes place across Perth and the surrounding region. The official regional guide (opens in a new tab) maps several clusters. In central Perth, Northbridge includes the Pleasure District and the Pleasure Garden in Russell Square; nearby listings use venues around the Perth Cultural Centre and the State Theatre Centre. The wider festival map also includes places such as Fremantle and Mandurah.
Use the venue map when choosing accommodation and grouping performances. A show in Northbridge and a later one in another district may fit on the same day, but allow time to travel, find the entrance and check in. Each listing names its own venue; festival locations extend well beyond the Pleasure Garden.
How to plan a show schedule
Wait for the official program and then compare the show time, venue, age recommendation and content notes before buying. FRINGE WORLD’s FAQ (opens in a new tab) says most shows run for about an hour, but the length and admission arrangements are set by each production. Seating is often unreserved and first-come, first-served. The festival advises arriving at the venue around an hour before a performance; follow the specific instructions on your ticket and leave room for queues or a walk between sites.
For a first visit, choose fewer shows with a comfortable gap rather than stacking several bookings with no travel time. Note the venue address beside each ticket, group nearby events on the same day, and keep a meal break in the plan. If you are attending with children, check the show’s age suitability and any content warning. The festival spans family entertainment and adult material, so “festival event” by itself does not describe who a show is for.
There is no printed festival guide. The official FAQ points visitors to the FRINGE WORLD app for schedules, venue maps and mobile tickets. Use the listings or app to confirm the final start time and entry details close to your visit, especially if you booked before the full program was released.
Getting around Perth
Use the venue address, not just “FRINGE WORLD”, when comparing routes. Transperth’s Journey Planner (opens in a new tab) can help you check public transport options between your accommodation and each show. For a multi-show day, plan the route between venues as well as the trip home, and check the service timetable for the date and time you will travel. The districts are not all in the same place, and an itinerary that looks close on a festival map can still need a transfer or a walk.
Booking a stay in central Perth or near the venues you expect to visit can reduce repeated cross-city journeys. Once tickets are on sale, use exact show addresses to make that decision; the announced program may take you beyond the central festival precinct.
Access, age guidance and local context
Access arrangements vary by venue and by production. The festival’s accessibility information (opens in a new tab) provides access filters and directs visitors to venue and show details; services such as interpreted or relaxed performances depend on the individual listing. Check the route into the venue, seating information and the performance page before booking. If a detail you need is missing, contact the festival or venue while there is time to clarify it.
FRINGE WORLD is presented by ARTRAGE Inc. and takes place on Whadjuk Noongar Country. The festival’s about page (opens in a new tab) acknowledges Whadjuk Noongar people as Traditional Custodians. Visitors can include this context in their plans while checking each event’s own information and location.
